My Cousin, General Benjamin Lincoln received the Sword of Surrender at Yorktown in Virginia General Cornwallis could have presented his Sword to General George Washington. He said he was sick and turned over duties to his second in command. General O'Hara. Ancestors of both the General Benjamin Lincoln and President Abraham Lincoln were living in Hingham Norfolk County Massachusetts in the 1600s. Were they related you might ask? Though they were not related in Massachusetts, both of their ancestors came from Hingham in Norfolk County England. It is a good guess that there is a connection on that side of the puddle. It would take more research than I can muster. Someone out there should take up the task. My own Sprague family has two main family groups in America. They too are connected on that side of the Atlantic Ocean. I have not yet published my findings. In the case of the Lincoln clan, on these pages, I trace back Abe's family to Henry Lincoln Sr. born in 1318 who lived in Northamptonshire England and later generations moved to Norfolkshire. England. Before landing in Hinghan, Norfolk, Massachusetts, some lived in Hingham, Norfolk, England. Yes, I would say they are related.
