My Sixty Years On The Plains: Trapping, Trading, And Indian Fighting is a memoir by William T. Hamilton that chronicles his adventurous life as a trapper, trader, and Indian fighter in the American West. The book covers Hamilton's experiences from the 1830s to the 1890s, including his early days as a young man learning the trade of trapping, his travels across the Great Plains, and his encounters with various Native American tribes. The book also details Hamilton's involvement in the fur trade and his interactions with other traders and trappers, as well as his experiences during the Mexican-American War and the Civil War. Hamilton provides vivid descriptions of the landscape and wildlife of the West, as well as the day-to-day struggles and dangers of life on the frontier.Throughout the book, Hamilton offers his opinions on the treatment of Native Americans and the changing landscape of the West as more settlers arrived. He also shares personal anecdotes and stories of his fellow trappers and traders, making for a rich and engaging read.Overall, My Sixty Years On The Plains offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of a frontiersman during a pivotal time in American history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
