My First Axolotl
Is your child fascinated by axolotls - or already asking if they can have one as a pet?
My First Axolotl is a fun, colourful and easy-to-follow axolotl care guide created especially for young would-be axolotl keepers and their grown ups.
Axolotls may look cute and simple to care for, but keeping one happy and healthy means understanding their very particular needs. This book turns the important parts of responsible axolotl care into clear, engaging and child-friendly explanations, helping children discover what owning an axolotl really involves before one comes home.
Young readers will learn about choosing and preparing the right aquarium, cycling the tank, keeping the water clean and cool, feeding, safe substrates, filters and hides, cleaning, handling, health, behaviour and much more.
And because looking after an axolotl should never be a child's responsibility alone, dedicated For Grown Ups sections throughout the book provide extra information on the more important and technical parts of their care.
INSIDE YOU'LL DISCOVER:
- What an axolotl actually is - and some amazing axolotl facts
- How to create a safe, comfortable axolotl home
- Why cycling and water quality are so important
- Temperature, filtration, hides and safe substrate explained simply
- What axolotls eat, how often to feed them and foods to avoid
- How to clean and maintain an axolotl aquarium
- Why axolotls are best enjoyed without unnecessary handling
- How to recognise normal behaviour and spot when something may be wrong
- Different axolotl colours and how they grow
- How much work owning an axolotl really involves
- What you'll need before bringing one home
- What to expect when your new axolotl first arrives
- For Grown Ups guidance throughout
- Fun visual activities to test what children have learned
- An Axolotl Expert Quiz
- A special Axolotl Expert Certificate to complete
PERFECT FOR:
Children who love axolotls and want to learn more about them
Families considering an axolotl as a pet
First-time axolotl owners looking for an accessible introduction
Parents who want to teach responsible pet ownership
And any young animal lover fascinated by these incredible creatures!
Rather than overwhelming young readers with complicated aquarium terminology, My First Axolotl makes learning about responsible care fun, visual and approachable, while still including the important information families need to understand the commitment involved.
By the end, children won't just know more about axolotls - they'll understand what these amazing animals need from us to live happy, healthy lives.
Learn. Care. Explore. Grow.
The perfect first guide for a future axolotl keeper.
