Musical Scotland, Past and Present is a comprehensive dictionary of Scottish musicians, spanning from the year 1400 to the late 19th century. Written by David Baptie and first published in 1894, this book contains detailed biographical information on hundreds of Scottish composers, performers, and music educators. The entries in this dictionary are organized alphabetically and provide information on the musician's birth and death dates, their musical education, notable works, and any other significant contributions to the Scottish musical scene. The book also includes an introduction that provides historical context for Scotland's musical tradition, as well as an appendix containing a list of Scottish music publishers and their addresses. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in Scottish music history, and it remains a classic reference work in the field. To Which Is Added A Bibliography Of Musical Publications Connected With Scotland From 1611.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
