In Music And Science, Charles Kasson Wead explores the intricate relationship between these two seemingly disparate fields. This address, delivered to the Philosophical Society of Washington in 1910, delves into the scientific underpinnings of music, examining how principles of physics and mathematics influence musical composition and perception.
Wead's work provides insights into the historical understanding of acoustics and the scientific study of sound. It highlights the ways in which scientific inquiry can enhance our appreciation of music's beauty and complexity. This essay is of enduring value to anyone interested in the intersection of arts and sciences, and the historical perspectives on these fields.
