'Lost at Sea' read Alfons Herzbruch as he raised the newspaper and awaited the arrival of the breakfast waitress. This was the politely restrained headline upon which the Cumbrian Morning News had settled. Presumably, thought Alfons Herzbruch, the publication had little in the way of local rival newspapers and did not need to jazz up stories to retain its readership. He studied the photograph which accompanied the report. Below it was a caption in italic type which read: 'Mrs Amalia Crowe, née Rafferty, the victim of a fatal boating accident'. An accident which is not an accident, a murder at Dragon Bay which is not a murder at Dragon Bay, and a murder which is not just a murder.
