The Mrichchhakatika of Sudraka is a classical Sanskrit play that tells the story of a young, wealthy merchant named Charudatta and his love for a courtesan named Vasantasena. The play is set in the city of Ujjayini and explores themes of love, greed, and justice. This edition of the play includes a commentary by Prithvidhara, which provides additional context and analysis of the text. The commentary is written in English and aims to make the play more accessible to readers who may not be familiar with Sanskrit. The book was originally published in 1904 and is written by Kasinath Pandurang Parar. It is considered a valuable resource for scholars and students of Sanskrit literature and Indian drama. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
