Moses and the Philosophers in Three Parts: Part One, The Physical System by Stephen Alexander Hodgman is a book that explores the intersection of religion and philosophy through the story of Moses and his encounters with various philosophers. The book is divided into three parts, with this first part focusing on the physical system. Hodgman uses Moses as a lens through which to examine the ideas of ancient Greek philosophers such as Pythagoras, Empedocles, and Heraclitus. He also delves into the works of medieval philosophers like Thomas Aquinas and Maimonides, as well as modern thinkers like Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. Through this exploration, Hodgman aims to show how Moses' teachings in the Bible align with various philosophical ideas about the nature of the physical world, including concepts like motion, matter, and causality. He also seeks to demonstrate how these ideas have influenced the development of Western philosophy and science. Overall, Moses and the Philosophers in Three Parts: Part One, The Physical System offers a unique perspective on the relationship between religion and philosophy, and sheds light on the ways in which these two fields have intersected throughout history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
