Mosby's War Reminiscences and Stuart's Cavalry Campaigns is a book written by John Singleton Mosby, a Confederate cavalry commander during the American Civil War. The book is a memoir that recounts Mosby's experiences during the war, including his time serving under General J.E.B. Stuart as a member of the 43rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry, also known as Mosby's Rangers. The book is divided into two parts. The first part is Mosby's War Reminiscences, which covers his experiences as a guerrilla fighter in Virginia. Mosby recounts his strategies for disrupting Union supply lines and communication, as well as his interactions with Union soldiers and civilians. He also provides insight into the politics of the Confederacy and his relationship with General Robert E. Lee. The second part of the book is Stuart's Cavalry Campaigns, which covers the military campaigns of General J.E.B. Stuart, particularly his cavalry raids and reconnaissance missions. Mosby served under Stuart during many of these campaigns, and provides a firsthand account of the battles and skirmishes that occurred. Overall, Mosby's War Reminiscences and Stuart's Cavalry Campaigns provides a unique perspective on the Civil War, particularly the experiences of Confederate cavalry soldiers. The book is considered a valuable historical document, and has been praised for its vivid descriptions and personal anecdotes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
