The Moon Pool is a science fiction and fantasy novel written by Abraham Merritt and first published in 1919. The book follows the story of Dr. Walter Goodwin, a scientist who sets out on an expedition to the South Pacific to investigate a mysterious pool on an island called Nan-Matal. The pool is said to have mystical powers and is believed to be a gateway to another world.Accompanied by his friend and fellow scientist, Larry O'Keefe, and a crew of sailors, Dr. Goodwin travels to Nan-Matal and discovers that the legends about the pool are true. He and his companions are drawn into a strange and dangerous world inhabited by supernatural beings and ancient civilizations. As they explore this new world, they encounter a race of beings known as the Shining Ones, who possess incredible powers and knowledge. The Shining Ones are in conflict with another race of beings, the Dweller, who seek to destroy them and take over their world.Dr. Goodwin and his companions become embroiled in this conflict and must fight to protect the Shining Ones and prevent the Dweller from taking over the world. Along the way, they encounter a number of challenges, including treacherous landscapes, dangerous creatures, and powerful magic. The Moon Pool is a captivating and imaginative tale that blends science fiction, fantasy, and adventure. It is a classic of the genre and has inspired countless works of science fiction and fantasy over the years. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
