A Modern Quixote: Or My Wifes Fool Of A Husband is a satirical novel written by August Berkeley and published in 1884. The story follows the adventures of a man named Mr. Percy, who is described as a fool of a husband by his wife. Mr. Percy is obsessed with the idea of becoming a knight in shining armor, like the famous literary character Don Quixote. He sets out on a series of absurd quests, such as rescuing damsels in distress and fighting imaginary giants.Throughout the novel, Mr. Percy's delusions become increasingly extreme, leading him into dangerous situations and causing embarrassment to his wife and family. The book is a commentary on the absurdity of romanticized chivalry and the dangers of living in a fantasy world. It also explores themes of gender roles and societal expectations, as Mr. Percy's behavior is seen as foolish and unacceptable by his wife and society at large.Overall, A Modern Quixote: Or My Wifes Fool Of A Husband is a humorous and thought-provoking novel that satirizes the romanticized ideals of chivalry and explores the consequences of living in a fantasy world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
