Modern Ideas of Evolution as Related to Revelation and Science is a book written by John William Dawson in 1890. This work explores the relationship between the scientific theory of evolution and the concept of divine revelation. Dawson was a Canadian geologist, paleontologist, and educator who believed that science and religion were not mutually exclusive, and that the two could coexist in harmony. In this book, Dawson examines the history of evolutionary thought and its impact on religious beliefs. He argues that the theory of evolution is not incompatible with the idea of divine creation, and that both can be seen as complementary perspectives on the natural world. Dawson also discusses the role of science in understanding the Bible, and how scientific discoveries can shed light on the meaning of religious texts.Throughout the book, Dawson presents a balanced and thoughtful approach to the topic, acknowledging both the strengths and limitations of both science and religion. He emphasizes the importance of open-mindedness and critical thinking in exploring these complex issues.Overall, Modern Ideas of Evolution as Related to Revelation and Science is a thought-provoking work that continues to be relevant today. It offers a nuanced perspective on the relationship between science and religion, and encourages readers to consider the possibilities of a more integrated approach to understanding the world around us.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
