Modern Chromatics: With Applications To Art And Industry is a book written by Ogden Nicholas Rood in 1879. It is a comprehensive study of the science of color and its applications in art and industry. The book covers various topics such as the nature of light, the physiology of vision, color perception, color harmony, and the use of color in different fields such as painting, printing, and dyeing. Rood's work is considered a groundbreaking contribution to the field of color theory, as he was one of the first to systematically study the principles of color and their practical applications. He introduced many new concepts and terminology, such as the three-dimensional color solid, which is still used today in color science. The book is divided into three parts. Part one deals with the physical and physiological aspects of color, including the properties of light and the human eye. Part two covers the principles of color harmony, color contrast, and color mixing. Part three explores the practical applications of color in art and industry, including painting, printing, and dyeing. Overall, Modern Chromatics: With Applications To Art And Industry is a seminal work in the field of color theory and remains an important reference for artists, designers, and scientists interested in the study of color. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
