Told in rhythmical form, this colorful picture book introduces children to Mischievous Mary Margaret. Children do not like playing with Mary Margaret because she is always doing mean things to them. One day the children send her home and on the way she comes across a big wad of chewed green gum. Seeing this immediately gives Mary Margaret an idea of something she can do to play a trick on her brother Johnny, so she picks it up and hurries home. Poor Johnny. However, some may be saying poor Mary Margaret too when they see what happens to her as a result of what she does to Johnny. Will she have learned her lesson? Children will be delighted to see that there is another story included in this book that will maybe answer the question. In the second story Mary Margaret spends a day at the beach. Being the mischievous child that she is, she soon finds ways to bother others that once again, result in consequences for her. Does she finally learn her lesson. The reader will have to decide. This book not only helps children to see that there are sometimes consequences for bad behavior, but it also opens up the opportunity for discussion with parents and teachers about behaviors. In addition, since the stories are written in rhythmical form, they may help children to listen more closely for rhyming words. There are also a few words that the children may not know. This gives opportunity for parents and teachers to help broaden a child's vocabulary. Consider taking Mischievous Mary Margaret home today and enjoy the interaction with your child or children.
