The Mirror of Life: Standing Daily Before the Word of God, by Apostle Kang Kevin
The book's central image comes from Joshua 1:8-9. A physical mirror shows only your outward appearance, but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). The Bible is the true Mirror of Life: the place where believers see the real state of their heart and character, and correct it before stepping into marriage, ministry, career or any calling. Many people fail in life, the author says, because they only groom the outside and never examine themselves in God's Word.
1. How to use the Mirror. Go to the Word daily, the way you eat, drink water and brush your teeth, not only in times of trouble. Come with humility and repentance, ready to be corrected (2 Timothy 3:16). Meditate slowly, verse by verse. Each person has biblical and human role models to learn from, copying their strengths and avoiding their errors.
2. The Word and prayer together. An allegory of stones and water in a stream: the Word stored in you sharpens you like an axe (Ecclesiastes 10:10), while prayer flows without ceasing. Prayer without the Word is a blunt axe that needs more strength. Read the Bible with your heart, not your head, not like a science textbook. When read this way, it brings hope, love and transformation.
3. The mystery of the Bible. The Word is a two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). God's raw nature is a consuming fire no human can bear (the red fire). At Pentecost it came as a yellow flame, a form believers can carry and through which they display God's power.
4. The wine at Cana. The book warns against using John 2 or 1 Timothy 5:23 to justify drinking. It sets these beside the Bible's many warnings against drunkenness and calls readers to study the whole Bible rather than isolated verses.
5. Unmask pride. Pride deceives people into thinking they have arrived (Proverbs 16:18, Isaiah 14). God resists the proud, so pray against pride even before you see it in yourself (James 4:6).
6. LIFCCOAN at five years. The church's story from a living-room prayer cell of four people in August 2021 to Premier Échangeur Nsam. It covers the relocations and challenges along the way, the outreach work (blind centre, orphanages, prisons, crusades, back-to-school support), and testimonies of healing and a safe delivery.
