Miniature Painters, British and Foreign by Joshua James Foster offers a comprehensive look into the world of miniature portraiture, with a special focus on artists who practiced in Britain, abroad, and in America during the eighteenth century. This first volume provides insights into the lives and techniques of these often-overlooked artists, offering a valuable resource for art historians, collectors, and anyone interested in the art of miniature painting.
Foster's detailed research brings to light the personal histories and artistic contributions of numerous painters, making it an essential reference for understanding the development of portraiture in a smaller, more intimate scale. Discover the stories behind the artists and their subjects, and delve into the intricate details of this fascinating art form that captured the likenesses of people during a pivotal period in history.
