The human experience is complex. Sometimes, we need the perspective of nature, animals, and the elements. Spending time in nature benefits the human spirit, and spending time with the animal kingdom expands our awareness. There is so much more here than we think, feel, or see. In my 12+ year journey with my Doberman, Maximus, I've seen my perspectives shift and expand into more than I could do on my own. Past scientifically proven methods of healing have left me longing for more. True healing came when I opened myself up to nature's perspective. Our God-given gifts of this world, our natural resources, and, yes, our pets are here to grow us and expand our life's experience.

If you've ever loved a dog, you understand the deeper meaning of love that an animal brings to your perspective. If you've ever lost a dog, you understand the void that is imprinted on your human heart. You also understand that the entire journey helped you expand and fulfill you. Who you are today is because of everywhere you've been up until this day. Who you become from here, is a gift to all of those beings who helped bring you here.

This story shares a little about my journey through the years with my Doberman, Maximus (his brother Samson makes several appearances). As a runner, high performer, and recovering perfectionist, I now understand the importance of moving step-by-step so as not to become overwhelmed by the full race. Maximus was a big part of my journey to this awareness. Mile by mile, we were challenged, we grew, and we conquered.
