I found it to be a wonderful blend of family, political, and local history set in Mexico and the United States. Your weaving of factual history related to your family and the two countries, with mental images of how it must have been, created a beautiful story that makes the reader want to stay close to the journey with your characters. The careful placement of short Mexican dialogue throughout the book is enough to make a person, not familiar with the language, try the words as they look at the translation following each passage.
