The book is a comprehensive exploration of the mental functions of the brain, including their localization in specific areas of the brain and how they manifest in both healthy and diseased individuals. Hollander delves into the history of research on the brain and its functions, as well as the different methods used to study the brain, such as autopsy and electrical stimulation. He discusses the different types of mental functions, including sensation, movement, memory, and emotion, and how they are related to specific parts of the brain. Hollander provides case studies and examples to illustrate his points and includes a discussion of the ethical considerations involved in studying the brain and its functions.
