Testo italiano e inglese a fronte - Italian and English on facing pagesQuando sono nato, c'era la neve.
Non ricordo molto di allora,
ma so che cadeva lieve
e che mai più la vidi ancora. When I was born, the snow was there.
I don't recall much of that day,
but I know how it fell, and where,
Non ricordo molto di allora,
ma so che cadeva lieve
e che mai più la vidi ancora. When I was born, the snow was there.
I don't recall much of that day,
but I know how it fell, and where,
and how it never came my way.
Thirty-five poems born in the north and carried around the world.
There is the snow of the day the author came into the world, and the snow that returns every winter to make him new. There is an evening in Norrmalm where a whole city plays theatre to an audience of two. There is a moon leaning out over Strandvägen as though from a window. And there are the people: Melissa, Vicki, Jessica, Erika, a little girl pulled away from his chest, a young man waiting in a doorway the way a dog waits for its master. Alessio Montegiove's second collection: rhymed verse about what is lost - and about what was never really lost at all. Com'è fatto il libro - About this edition
Alessio Montegiove is an airline captain. He has lived in the United States and in Sweden, and is based in the UAE. He is the author of six novels and four poetry collections.
