Memories are precious. They carry us through hard times, make us appreciate the good, and help us celebrate life. Robert S. Nissan, MD, shares them all in his poetry collection Memories for Tomorrow.
Nissan captures images with the precision of a doctor as he carves out the details illuminating his thoughts, finds the magic in ordinary happenings, and explores the depths of people's lives.
See in me the dream / a fantasy of eternal dimensions and ephemeral / illusions. capture me a star / and wish a dream upon it. That's just one sequence in a collection filled with a poet's fascination with the life around him. Here, marriages, soccer games, dances, and even falling leaves all take on a deeper meaning.
Nissan's love of poetry is as old as his commitment to medicine. Now retired, he dedicates his time to the craft of writing. Like his previous collection, Moments in Time, Memories for Tomorrow helps us remember how precious life is while encouraging the rest of us to see the beauty in the commonplace. It's power in prose, pumping through the thoughts of a poet in a collection sure to delight lovers of the written word.
