The Memoirs of Marguerite de Valois, Volume 3 is a historical book that recounts the life of Marguerite de Valois, a French princess who lived during the 16th century. This volume is part of a series of memoirs written by Marguerite herself, detailing her experiences as a member of the royal family during a tumultuous period in French history. In this particular volume, Marguerite continues to recount her life story, focusing on her time as a prisoner in the Chateau of Usson. She describes the harsh conditions she endured during her captivity and the various attempts she made to escape. Marguerite also reflects on her relationships with her family members, including her brother, King Henry III, and her husband, King Henry IV. Throughout the book, Marguerite provides a unique perspective on the political and social events of the time, including the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre and the Wars of Religion. Her memoirs offer a fascinating insight into the life of a powerful woman during a pivotal period in French history. Overall, The Memoirs of Marguerite de Valois, Volume 3 is a compelling read for anyone interested in history, royalty, or the experiences of women in the past.(The additional work here is the history of the House of Valois from its earliest days.)This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
