To many, Ronald Reagan is as close to a god as America has ever produced. The author met the future president when Reagan was governor of California and thereby the head of the university system, at a Regents meeting held at U. C. Santa Cruz in 1969. The meeting left a lasting impression, conveyed in the title poem of this set. The impression from that meeting is but one of dozens of impressions of people, places and events conveyed in these poems. From artists trapped in Soviet Russia to the nature of light, to an old photograph of free-spirited women dancing naked and unashamed, this volume addresses life, the universe, and everything.
