In this book, I delve into nine distinct forms of intimacy, with a Tenth that embodies the spirit of a deeply fulfilling partnership. True intimacy is not found in grand gestures or fleeting passions; it lies in being fully present with one another, meeting each person where they are, and creating a safe space where both partners feel valued, seen, and heard.
In The King of Cups, the Lovers, and Death, reflecting on my own journey through the tumultuous days of the pandemic, the shifts and losses that defined my personal life, and the unexpected rediscovery of love, I've come to realize that intimacy, like all meaningful connections, demands intentionality and patience. It is a skill and a practice that each of us can cultivate over time, a shared journey of commitment and understanding that sustains the spark and fosters resilience in our connections.
This collection serves as both a reflection on those layers of intimacy and an invitation to explore them deeply. It celebrates the myriad ways we can ignite that spark of life in one another, allowing us to feel the profound connection we all deserve. In Meditations on Intimacy, I hope to illuminate the paths to these intimate connections, encouraging us to engage with others thoughtfully, lovingly, and openly.
