This is the second book in the series of time travelling adventures, Spirits of London Wall in which the four friends spirit into different ages of the ancient London Wall.Opening in the present day, a few months after their Victorian escapade, Ellie and Rachel are once again drawn towards the bastion by Meridian's Magnet. This time they alert the boys, Jack and Marcus who still do not believe their story of Dizzi and time travelling.Hold on for dear life as this rollicking tale takes the four to medieval London 1381, the day before the Peasants' Revolt. Read what happens when Jack and Rachel are captured by Corsairs beside the Fleet River; Rachel jumps ship and Jack fights for his life with a cutlass. Find out if Ellie and Marcus manage to flee from Arab sailors. Be with Ellie when she is bitten by a cobra in Cloth Fair; then in the middle of the night after walking through Clerkenwell's deserted woodland, she encounters a leper outside the locked gates of London Wall. Read how Rachel, disguising herself as a boy apprentice, ends up on the corsair vessel sailing to St. Malo with no means of escape while the other three find themselves in the smelly, disease-ridden Fleet Prison. All this before they become embroiled in the violent ransacking of the City when Ellie's head is placed on a chopping block in Smithfield. As with all the books in the series, Medieval Mayhem is both exciting to read and is educational with its 'Snippets of History' section at the back of the book.
