His story isn't just about survival or transformation. It's about purpose that transcends time and circumstances, about second chances and the refusal to leave anyone behind. Whether in the rice paddies of Vietnam or the recovery centers of today, Charley LaFontaine still answers the call: when they're down, he's up.
