The following is from a lad of eighteen, who was a perfect prodigal in appearance when he came to the institution: --I shall give you my biography of the past year and a half. I left home on November 5, 1888, and went to Aledo, 111. I there went to work in a grocery store for two months, and then commenced teaching music in the same place. I taught there till August 3d, when I went to Galesburgh, 111., and entered the employment of, who keeps a music store. I stayed until October 16. I then went to Elgin, 111., and went to work in the Elgin Watch Factory, and remained there till November 29, when I started on a trip to Mexico. I came back immediately to Chicago, from Chicago to New York City, thence to Liverpool, England. I remained from January 1 to February 15 in England, and arrived in Boston, Thursday, February 27. As to my education, I have been at college three years, at Hethany, Lindsburg, and Kansas. I have studied Greek, Latin, German, Swedish, and the English languages. I have also studied mathematics and music. I play the cornet and piano. I have studied the piano four years. I was born. I am a member of the Presbyterian Church i also the Y.M.C.A.
