Are pious acts truly good, and sinful actions truly bad? In the material world, we are constantly judging actions based on duality, applying labels like guna and dosha. We see the police officer defending justice versus the criminal stealing from others, or actions leading to heaven versus hell. But this book challenges the very foundation of this moral structure, suggesting that all karma, whether good or bad, is ultimately detrimental in the long run because it results in the future development of a material body.
This realization forms the core of The Maya of Hari, which explores the profound philosophical concept that good and bad are part of the illusion (maya) created by Hari. The entire experience of material living is likened to an intense dream. In this dream, the emotions of suffering or victory may feel real, but upon waking, both situations dissipate. This material world is meant to hide the nature of God, and only a wise person, approaching with a sober mind, sees the folly in remaining in this temporary illusion.
Since duality is Hari's creation, it is only Hari who can remove this illusion. The key to rising above the binding influence of good (guna) and bad (dosha) is devotion.
Drawing on the timeless wisdom of Goswami Tulsidas, this book offers the profound conclusion that liberation is found only through the Supreme Lord: Good and bad, which are part of the illusion created by Hari, cannot be removed without worshiping Hari.
