Keeping their wedding plans to themselves, Jacki and Sasa are looking forward to a quiet wedding in Macedonia. Sasa is overawed by Jacki's one hundred and fifty family and friends, but Jacki insists that no-one would travel to Macedonia for their wedding and she is happy to keep it small, with only her mother and a small group of Macedonian family and friends attending.

When the invitations finally go out five months later, no-one is more surprised than Jacki as people excitedly accept. Sasa, on the other hand, is a little short of horrified and asks Jacki how they are going to cater for them in Sasa's small family home on the Balkan Peninsula.

As the days roll by, acceptances roll in. People are willing to beg, borrow and steal to get to the Macedonian wedding. Girlfriends are bringing their families and mothers are slipping across from London. In Macedonia the plans aren't taking shape at all. The Macedonian facility manager refuses to take a booking so far in advance, saying that they could be broken up in nine moths time and to call back four weeks before the event. Jacki is in a state of panic as the Macedonians will not believe there are so many people visiting their country just for a wedding.

What started out to be a small, cheap and intimate wedding is turning into an impossible and costly major drama, but the big day finally arrives. After a few hilarious travel incidents with family and guests, Sasa and Jacki are now about to tie the knot. Will all go smoothly, or will the roller-coaster of ups and downs continue as Jacki and Sasa declare their vows and wonder at the amazement of the biggest wedding the Balkan Peninsula is ever likely to see again?

Married is Macedonia is a rollicking ride of hilarity and sometimes tears as we share the marital journey of the lovable Sasa and Jacki. In the end, a beautiful wedding takes place, but not without the trials and tribulations that are every budding bride and groom's nightmare.
