A Man, A Company, And An Industry In Western Canada: Anglo American Exploration Limited by Carl Olof Nickle is a comprehensive historical account of the Anglo American Exploration Limited, a mining company that played a significant role in the development of Western Canada's mineral resources. The book traces the company's origins and growth, from its founding in the 1940s by Swedish-Canadian entrepreneur Carl Olof Nickle to its eventual acquisition by a larger mining corporation in the 1980s. Nickle's narrative covers the company's many successes and challenges, including its pioneering work in uranium exploration and its efforts to navigate the complex regulatory landscape of the Canadian mining industry. The book also explores the broader historical context of Anglo American Exploration Limited's operations, including the Cold War-era politics that shaped the uranium industry and the environmental concerns that emerged in the latter half of the 20th century. Throughout the book, Nickle draws on his extensive experience as a mining engineer and executive to provide a detailed and nuanced perspective on the industry. He also offers insights into the personal and professional motivations of the individuals who played key roles in the company's history, including his own father, who served as the company's president for many years. Overall, A Man, A Company, And An Industry In Western Canada: Anglo American Exploration Limited is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of mining in Canada, as well as for those seeking a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the industry today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
