Everything with exception of her failed attempt to be the Virginia superintendent of public instruction under the newly formed Virginia Lily Black Republican Party blossomed. As the first female President of the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank she steered the bank out the darkness and into the light. She was the first African-American woman to charter a bank in the United States of America. An African American architect designed the building for Walker. She excelled in everything she touched, but she too experienced a great tragedy in life. She became a fighter on the field of justice and crusader for equal rights. Now her ten foot tall statue greets all with a friendly smile and Wave. But, her nights are filled with loneliness. Her friend Jimmy has a plan in mind as being an immortal without a partner can lead to isolation and loneliness in the roaring twenties. Maggie Walker excelled despite Jim Crowe laws and pulled others up.
