A Heartwarming True Story of Friendship Between a Family and a Wild Magpie
One summer evening, a curious little magpie appeared on the fence, watching a family with bright, trusting eyes. What started as quiet visits turned into an unforgettable bond-as the bird they named Maggie hopped closer, learned to fly, and even stepped inside their home!
In this beautifully illustrated children's picture book, author Donna L. Hone shares a true story from her own life: how kind neighbors rescued a baby magpie after her nest fell, helped her grow strong, and watched her soar into the wild. Maggie brought joy, laughter, and wonder to everyone around her-but as her wings grew stronger, the family faced a tender lesson in love: sometimes, the greatest act of kindness is learning to let go.
Love gave a little heart wings to fly.
Perfect for ages 4-8, Maggie the Magpie celebrates:
- The magic of unexpected friendships with wild animals
- Small acts of kindness and wildlife rescue
- Themes of growth, freedom, and saying goodbye
- The beauty of nature and trusting wild creatures
With gentle prose and charming illustrations, this touching tale will warm hearts and spark conversations about compassion for animals. Ideal for bedtime reading, classroom discussions, or families who love real-life animal stories like Owen & Mzee or The Snow Goose.
Join Maggie on her journey of wings, wonder, and heartfelt goodbyes. Add this true story of friendship to your child's library today!
