The Machinery of Heaven explores how ancient civilizations transformed survival knowledge into sacred authority. Rather than dismissing myth as superstition, this book reads ancient stories as layered memory - preserving clues about real struggles over irrigation, agriculture, astronomy, record-keeping, kingship, and access to knowledge.
