Luna's World: El Mundo de Luna
Eight-year-old Luna is starting at a new school, and while she is excited for a new adventure, she quickly realizes that some things feel different. At home, Luna's world is filled with Spanish words, family traditions, delicious foods, and the love of Mamá, Papá, Abuela, Abuelo, and her siblings. At school, however, Luna begins to wonder whether the things that make her family special will help her fit in or make her stand out.
With encouragement from her family and the kindness of a new friend, Luna begins to find the confidence to share more of herself with her classmates. From the Spanish words she speaks at home to the stories and traditions passed down through her family, Luna discovers that her culture isn't something she has to leave at the classroom door. It is an important part of who she is.
Luna's World: El Mundo de Luna is a heartwarming bilingual children's book that celebrates language, culture, family, confidence, inclusion, and belonging. Through Luna's journey, young readers are reminded that speaking more than one language is something to be proud of and that our differences give us opportunities to learn from one another.
Written for children ages 3-8, this story is a meaningful addition to home, classroom, and school library collections. It is especially suited for bilingual families, multilingual learners, Spanish-speaking children, and young readers who are learning about cultures and experiences different from their own.
Whether a child sees their own family reflected in Luna's story or is introduced to a new perspective, Luna's World encourages every reader to walk confidently into the world as exactly who they are.
Because what makes you different might just be what makes you extraordinary.
