As I compile this volume of poetry - Love letters to life - I'm acutely aware of this splendiferous gift we call life. Life in all its tenderness and terror imprints all of us. My poetry is a personal perspective, a reflection on life and its impact on all of us. Each poem is a Love letter to Life. It is true that we're all dealt a unique deck of cards in our lives. However, it's the commonality, the binding factor of being human that my poetry ponders on. Love letters to life is also a reflection on our first year in Paternoster, Western Cape, South Africa. As the energy on our planet intensifies and structures break down, we all are forced to shift our paradigms, find new ways of doing things. Yet, what we are experiencing may not be new and unique as we think. Ancient Biblical scripture addresses these turbulent times: I observed under the sun that the race doesn't always go to the swift, nor the battle to the mighty, nor food to the wise, nor wealth to the intelligent, nor favor to the knowledgeable because accidents can happen to anyone. Ecclesiastes 9:11 My summation of the human experience is to be found in these words Lux Aeterna Lux Aeterna Eternal Light Seeking shelter Throughout the nightDarkest day consort It fears neither plague nor plough Tilling pilgrim persistent It fastidiously searches Knowing that holy shrines And sacred centers still abide in us Lux Aeterna Eternal Light Doorway - gateway - wormhole Entering the space between our atoms Yet, we keep on going the distance But, our days gradually grow weary Entropy of body armour Ensures we discard swords and sashes Faits accomplis We'll be found!
