Love In A Veil: A Comedy is a play written by Richard Savage in 1719. The story revolves around a young woman named Isabella who is forced into an arranged marriage by her father. However, she is secretly in love with another man and decides to disguise herself in a veil to avoid the marriage. The play follows the hilarious and chaotic events that unfold as Isabella tries to avoid the marriage and pursue her true love. The play is a satire on the societal norms of the time and the restrictions placed on women. It explores themes of love, marriage, and freedom of choice. The play is a classic example of 18th-century English comedy and is known for its witty dialogue and clever plot twists. Love In A Veil: A Comedy is a must-read for anyone interested in English literature and theatre history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
