Auch in dem eher algebraischen Teil über Normalformentheorie, mit dem Sylvesterschen Trägheitssatz für reelle quadratische Formen und der Jordanschen Normalform für Endomorphismen, wird der Geometrie breiter Raum gegeben. Zu den geometrischen Themen gehören unitäre Vektorräume und grundlegende Aspekte topologischer Gruppen. Die Exponentialreihe für quadratische Matrizen und die sich daraus ergebenden Anwendungen der Jordanschen Normalform auf lineare Differentialgleichungssysteme werden ebenfalls ausführlich diskutiert.
In der projektiven Geometrie kommen viele der zuvor entwickelten algebraischen Methoden zum Einsatz. Höhepunkt ist ein vollständiger Beweis des Hauptsatzes über Kollineationen der reellen projektiven Ebene. Abschlie end wird gezeigt, wie sich euklidische, elliptische und hyperbolische Geometrie als Untergeometrien der projektiven Geometrie interpretieren lassen.
