The book covers Tryon's early life and education, his entry into the Royal Navy, and his rise through the ranks to become a Vice-Admiral. It also delves into Tryon's notable accomplishments as a naval commander, including his role in the suppression of piracy in the Mediterranean and his innovative tactics in naval warfare. The book also explores Tryon's personal life, including his marriage to Lady Tryon and his relationships with other notable figures of his time, such as Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill. Additionally, the book delves into Tryon's tragic death in 1893, when his flagship, HMS Victoria, collided with another ship during a naval exercise, resulting in the loss of over 350 lives.
