Born and bred in New York City, Marcie Ruderman earned her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in English Literature and Writing, with thirty credits above her Master's in Creative Writing. She taught expository and creative writing at two New York City high schools, as well as at Kingsborough Community College, a branch of the City University of New York. Her short story The Unmooring won first prize in the contest held by Midnight Oil literary journal, her essay For Whom the Bell Tolls won first prize in the contest held by Brooklyn Bridge magazine, her short story Circling for Home appeared in Entropy literary journal, and her short story Ode to Joy was printed in Midstream magazine. Her first book of poetry, Feminine Faces, her short story collection, Off the Beaten Tale, and her novel, The Marginal Way, have all been independently published.
