Letters from Above often carried more than just news, they could also carry Hope, Love, and a Future. Such was the 'ANY SOLDIER MAIL' letter that Lieutenant Douglas Morgan received from Miss Barbara Wilson while serving in Vietnam in 1969-1970.Many soldiers and officers who served in Vietnam were very young for the time. Most young soldiers were 18-22 years of age and most young officers were 20-23 years of age. Many soldiers also did not get mail which was considered the lifeline back to the States. Letters from above were delivered daily to soldiers in Vietnam often using the helicopter that was so plentiful in the Vietnam War. Every soldier loved getting a letter from home, but many seldom got any letters for various reasons. Newspapers during the Vietnam War began publishing addresses where citizens could write a letter to Any Soldier so that the troops would get mail from home.
