In May 1940 Panzer columns overran France. Many of it's citizens wept at the debacle brought about by their government and it's inept military leaders. Following the defection of the cabinet from Paris, the writing was clearly on the wall. It had taken only five weeks for the 'Blitzkrieg' to overwhelm the vaunted French forces. In the 60's era, politics, sex and greed result in the death or ruin for those associated with the St.Lucien treasure. A bizarre murder becomes a problem for Chief Inspector Steiner and creates an embarrassing political scandal for the German governmnent before the saga draws to a close.
