Je ne possède rien, je n'ai besoin de rien. Ainsi chantait Milarépa (XIe siècle), l'ascète qui incarne le Bouddha tibétain, lorsque, quittant la solitude de son ermitage, il rencontrait des villageois et leur racontait les étapes de son cheminement spirituel. Ses Cent Mille Chants ont été recueillis puis repris pendant des siècles par ses disciples qui les ont immortalisés. Marie-José Lamothe en traduit aujourd'hui la première partie en français et restitue la magie d'une parole inspirée où passe le souffle des grands espaces himalayens. Ce livre a obtenu le prix Alexandra David-Néel (1987).
