ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
She defied the limits of love.
He condemned her to be the most famous adulteress in Mexico.
Suzanne Avramow came to be known as the best-dressed woman in Mexico. Her lifestyle was full of glamour: she dined at Ciro's, attended the dances at the Jockey Club, stayed at the exclusive Mirador Hotel in Acapulco, and after marrying wealthy businessman Paul Antebi, she became part of the circle of the most influential families in the country during the Alemanismo era.
Fleeing Nazism and speaking barely any Spanish, she arrived alone in a foreign country where she soon found herself trapped in the dissatisfaction of an arranged marriage that ended in tragedy. Like madame Bovary, she was overtaken by fate and imprisoned in Lecumberri, while her lover never even set foot in jail. Oppression, greed, and an intricate web of jealousy and revenge compose this astonishing story that scandalized Mexican society in the 1950s, dominating the front pages of the national press and unleashing a public lynching rarely seen before.
