The Lyrics of Dorothy is a three-act comedy opera written by B.C. Stephenson and first published in 1887. The story follows the character of Dorothy, a young woman who is in love with a man named Harry Sherwood, but is forced to marry a wealthy but unattractive man named Sir Geoffrey. The plot revolves around Dorothy's attempts to escape her loveless marriage and be reunited with Harry, with the help of her friends and family. The book is primarily a collection of lyrics, with some dialogue interspersed throughout. The lyrics are set to music and are intended to be sung by the characters in the opera. The book is a charming and humorous tale of love and mistaken identity, with catchy songs and memorable characters. It is a classic example of Victorian-era light opera and remains popular among fans of the genre. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
