Every generation inherits stories that redefine its understanding of reality. It began during my first deployment to Afghanistan more than twenty years ago, with an incident so extraordinary that it altered the course of my life forever.
What followed cannot be told honestly as conventional nonfiction, nor be dismissed as mere fiction. Instead, I have written what I believe to be the first novel of its kind-a hybrid of memoir, documented reality, scientific inquiry, and speculative fiction.
The facts are real. The science is grounded wherever possible, and the narrative is woven together through fiction to explore questions that defy easy explanation. I call this Factual Science Fiction. Or, if you prefer, Sci-Fi Show and Tell.
Unlike traditional science fiction, this story does not ask, What if? It asks a more disturbing question: What if this has been happening all along?
Throughout these pages, you will encounter real history alongside imagined dialogue, established science beside emerging theories, and experiences so improbable that many readers will instinctively reject them. Others may recognize fragments of truths they have long suspected but could never explain.
What you choose to believe is entirely up to you. Believe none of it. Believe all of it. Or decide somewhere in between. I ask only one thing of you: Keep an open mind.
The image before you is not simply a book cover. It is the central theme of this story-a symbol, a warning, and a question. Its meaning will reveal itself slowly, layer by layer, until the final pages compel you to look back at everything you thought you understood.
Some of what follows is controversial. Some is unsettling. Some ventures into territory considered forbidden, taboo, or simply too dangerous to discuss openly. Whether you view these pages as an unforgettable work of science fiction or as a memoir disguised as one is entirely your decision.
