The Lloyds of Birmingham: With Some Account of the Founding of Lloyds Bank is a historical book written by Samuel Lloyd and published in 1907. The book provides a detailed account of the Lloyd family, who were prominent merchants in Birmingham, England, during the 18th and 19th centuries. It also explores the origins of Lloyds Bank, which was founded by the Lloyds family in 1765. The book delves into the history of the Lloyds family, tracing their roots back to the 17th century and exploring their rise to prominence in Birmingham's business community. It examines the family's involvement in various industries, including ironworking, brass founding, and banking. The book also provides a comprehensive history of Lloyds Bank, from its humble beginnings as a private banking partnership to its growth into a major financial institution. It explores the bank's role in financing the industrial revolution and its expansion into new markets, both in England and abroad. Throughout the book, Samuel Lloyd draws on a wealth of historical sources, including family papers, business records, and contemporary accounts. The result is a detailed and engaging history of one of Birmingham's most prominent families and the bank they founded. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
