The publication of this second edition of Literary Criticism and Theory Unlocked marks a significant milestone in my ongoing journey as a teacher, writer, and lifelong student of literature. Having authored more than twenty books, my deepest motivation has always been my students-their needs, their questions, and their aspirations to achieve excellence in examinations and research. It was with this commitment that the first edition of this book was conceived, and the overwhelming response it received has both humbled and inspired me. With more than a thousand copies sold, the first edition not only reached a wide audience but also generated thoughtful reviews, heartfelt appreciation, and valuable feedback from readers.
Students particularly expressed how much they valued the book's clarity, its exam orientation, and its accessible style. Yet they also wished for more: questions at the end of each chapter, last-minute revision aids, and a format that would allow them to engage with concepts more deeply than bullet points could provide. This second edition is therefore not simply a revision-it is a transformation shaped directly by the voices of readers and learners. Over two years of sustained effort have gone into reshaping the book, refining its design, and enriching its academic substance.
