Based on contemporary notes, letters and reports, State Department de-classified documents, interviews, published narratives and social media, LIMBO is part history and part memoir, recounting the author's time as an aid worker in the Malaysian and Indonesian refugee camps where he directed the education programs as well as Vietnam where he started a project in the Mekong Delta for those returning after spending years in camps. Politics, corruption, humanitarianism, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, national governments, the US Department of State, and the Vietnamese refugees encompass the most generous refugee program in history. One former refugee described the book as probably the most informative, well sourced, richly detailed document about Galang Refugee Camp ever written. The Vietnamese Heritage Museum in California called it an invaluable addition to our collection and great contribution towards preserving our history for future generations.
