The Life of Christ: A Critical Examination of His History is a book written by David Frederick Strauss and published in 1845. The book is a comprehensive study of the life of Jesus Christ, examining his history from a critical perspective. Strauss was a German theologian and philosopher who sought to explore the historical accuracy of the Gospels and the life of Jesus as presented in the Bible. The book is divided into two parts: the first part examines the historical context of Jesus' life, while the second part focuses on the events of his life as presented in the Gospels. Strauss argues that the Gospels are not reliable historical accounts of Jesus' life, but rather theological interpretations of his teachings and actions. He also challenges traditional Christian beliefs, such as the virgin birth and the resurrection, suggesting that they are not historically accurate. The Life of Christ is a seminal work in the field of biblical criticism and has been widely studied and debated by scholars and theologians. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
