The personal triumphs and tragedies of everyday life are what molds us into the people we are meant to become.Life in Katie's Shoes, begins with the innocence we hold as a child, through six-year-old Kaitlyn Katie Engel's eyes. Imagine being a young child, and not understanding why Daddy is acting different. Why are Mommy and Daddy not living in the same house anymore? Fast forward to the pains that a teenager has to face, and the scars that addiction and divorce can leave. As the book progresses, so does the intensity and complexity of the obstacles she has to face.As Katie navigates through the multitude of events that arise in her life, the writing becomes more in line with how she speaks at her current age, and the book comes full circle and revisits the main theme from beginning to end. Katie's journey is meant to show readers that no one is alone in the tragedies and triumphs they face. She serves as a relatable beacon to those that choose to read about her life thus far.
